The Eleven Doctors of Doctor Who: Own the Time Lords!

Tell your friends about this! (Other social media links below the post!)

Doctor Who is a BBC British Science Fiction series that revolves around a time traveler (aka Time Lord) who is simply referred to as The Doctor. Many of us in the United States may not realize it, but this series is easily one of the longest running and oldest science fiction shows on the air. It has been on and off the air since 1963, had over 765 TV episodes, has even had a radio show, and has had eleven lead actors portraying The Doctor. That easily beats all the Star Trek episodes combined (even at the desperate attempt of including the Animated Series and 11 movies) which totals 736.

For the first time, a collector set is being offered that contains all eleven Time Lords (yep including the new one). Each figure measures approximately 5 inches tall. The set officially goes on sale late October in the US, but is already on sale overseas, so some vendors already are offering it. The price is around $130 with shipping which works out to about $12 per figure. Not bad at all. For those keeping score (and still in disbelief), here is your confirmation on how many Doctor Who episodes (by Doctor) vs. how many Star Trek episodes (by series) there have been:

Doctor Who Episodes (by the eleven Actors playing The Doctor)

1. William Hartnell (1963-1966) 134 episodes
2. Patrick Troughton (1966-1969) 119 episodes
3. Jon Pertwee (1970-1974) 128 episodes
4. Tom Baker (1974–1981) 172 episodes
5. Peter Davison (1982–1984) 69 episodes
6. Colin Baker (1984–1986) 31 episodes
7. Sylvester McCoy (1987–1989) 42 episodes
8. Paul McGann (1996) 1 episode aka a TV movie
9. Christopher Eccleston (2005) 13 episodes
10. David Tennant (2005-2009) 43 episodes
11. Matt Smith (2010-present) so far 13 episodes

Star Trek Episodes (by series)

The Original Series: 79; The Animated Series: 22; The Next Generation: 178; Deep Space Nine: 176; Voyager: 172; Enterprise: 98; Movies: 11

If you are interested, there is also a Doctor Who – The Companions Set that has been out for a while, but it barely scratches the surface of the tons of Companions The Doctor has shared his journey with over the years. The figures are also not as clearly detailed. Perhaps this latest attempt at providing a complete Doctor Who set, will generate some movement towards a better Companion collection. The current price for this set runs about $100 and contains Sarah Jane Smith, Martha Jones, Donna, K9, Astrid and Rose.

Before you go, check out this faithful fan video of all of the Doctor’s Female Companions over the years up before Amy Pond.
