James Bond GoldenEye 007 Back on Shelves!

Tell your friends about this! (Other social media links below the post!)

James Bond 007: GoldenEye, a fan favorite N64 FPS (Nintendo 64 First Person Shooter) from 1997 is going to be re-released next Tuesday November 2nd, this version however is completely redesigned.

James Bond 007: GoldenEye for the Wii and DS is available for pre-order and free immediate shipping (once it is released) on Amazon for $49 for the Wii and $29 for the DS.

There is also a GoldenEye 007 Hardware Bundle with a Gold Wii Classic Controller for $69, but that may be overkill – pardon the pun.

This has been announced for a while and rumored even longer, but unfortunately the game will only be available for Nintendo. The Wii version of this game will make full use of the Wii’s motion ability and allow for strategic gameplay.

For those unfamiliar, the game is centered around the 1995 James Bond film of the same name and really made strides in FPS shooters. Several Bond copycats came after it, but the controls and missions were never the same and the graphics were too shaky. The only game that stood even close was “Perfect Dark”, but Goldeneye is seriously the only reason I still own my N64.

Purists need not worry about losing the general authenticity of the original. For the most part, the storyline will mimic the original game (and movie), but it will supposedly have a more modern twist on some of the storyline and contain added challenges.

The downside to this change is that they are reportedly removing the Cold War aspect of the story since it seems outdated. I also was not too happy that Bond in single player will be Daniel Craig vs the original Pierce Brosnan.

The game will bring back the old split screen fighting mode which made it so much fun when friends came by, but they will also have an online play mode for modern gamers.

Another great plus here is the improved audio and completely redrawn graphics. It definitely looks smoother and sharper.

The game will reportedly have the expected assortment of weapons and mission variables, and offer between 40-50 playable characters, including a selection of 8 classic Bonds as well as a few classic villains to choose from.

Can’t wait to get my hands on it. I’ll see you online!
